Social media isn’t going anywhere. Millions of people and businesses use social media to carry their messages across the internet for the entire world to see. It’s unfortunate, however, that some use social media platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram to spread negativity while aiming to direct and influence society. This is why it’s important to use your social influence positively.

Intentional Social Media

It’s now more important than ever to use social media intentionally. Using social media intentionally means finding a purpose for it, rather than scrolling aimlessly through feed after feed. Use social platforms to engage with experts who you can learn from; use it to make meaningful relationships; and use it for inspiration and creativity.

With technology constantly evolving, information is now readily available at our fingertips. Technology provides boundless opportunities to further develop your skills, gain new understandings, and allow you to make greater connections. With these tools at your fingertips, you should always be able to spread positive messages and information through your interactions on social media, whether it be through Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, or elsewhere.

Spread Positivity

Most often in today’s society people use social media to spread false information, negative comments, and uneducated opinions. As a result, it is necessary more than ever to control one’s “message” in the marketplace, both from a personal as well as corporate level. In doing so, be sure to stress the positive.

Even if your personal pages aren’t connected to your business profiles, it’s important to always be wary about what kind of message you’re sending. Before you post, think: “Is this information correct?”, “Is this meaningful content?”, and “Is this a positive message?”. If the answer to any of the aforementioned questions is “no,” you should reconsider the purpose of your message.

Create Meaningful Content

There is a lot of negative buzz surrounding social media, but it doesn’t all have to be negative. If you can create content that is meaningful, positive, and useful, you’re going to create a better image for yourself and your business.

The same goes for the types of profiles you’re following along with. If you follow Facebook pages that are uplifting, informative, or inspirational, for instance, you’re more likely to have positive feelings towards the platforms.

Social media can be a great tool to utilize in your business and in your everyday life, but remember to use these channels in a positive light; there’s just too much negativity in this world already.
